DRU, an innovative company

If a company is still able to lead the market after more than 250 years then its ability to innovate must surely be in the genes. In 1754 the DRU founders ensured that the company - one of the first industrial companies in the Netherlands - knew how to pour iron ore for a range of practical household products, including the world-renowned DRU pans.

When in 1959 natural gas was discovered in the Netherlands DRU capitalised on this avidly by developing its first gas-fired stove. A short while later, in around 1960, the DRU designers were the first to introduce aclosed combustion gas-fired stove; an innovative system that made the chimney superfluous. This system is still used by the majority of gas-fired stoves today.

A random selection from our most recent developments are SmartVent® (an exceptionally shallow and flat flue duct), 2nd thermocouple (a safety system), Slim Line (a frameless design concept) and Lux (a ventilation grate with the appearance of a lamp).

The latest innovations
PowerVent®

Today in 2011 we can once again herald in a new innovation: DRU PowerVent®. With this new system a gas-fired stove can be positioned pretty much anywhere. An exterior supply of air can now be accessed horizontally, vertically, or via all kinds of bends up to a maximum length of 20 metres. This means you can now place gas-fired stoves in tricky places in restaurants, hotels or terraced houses.

The benefits in a nutshell:

  • The ideal solution for terraced houses, apartments or other set-ups where previously it proved difficult to position a stove.
  • The stove can also be placed in the centre of the room and the flue system can run via the crawl space for example.
  • Small surcharge for this system.
  • Small duct diametre of just ø 10 cm is easier to conceal.
  • Compact powerbox on the exterior wall or just under the roof.

Only suitable for DRU stoves

The PowerVent® system is only suitable for DRU gas-fired atmospheric stoves that are equipped with Dualthermobeveiliging® and are inspected for this system. Please visit www.dru.nl/powervent for an overview.

H2O gas-fired stoves

Get more output from your gas-fired stove!
DRU Verwarming B.V. recently introduced two innovative gas-fired atmospheric stoves that utilise the heat released by the fire to additionally heat up the CH water. With this new Agua range DRU offers the opportunity to not only create extra ambience and comfort but also to work with gas more efficiently.

By not only utilising the warmth from the stove to heat the room in which it is placed but to also heat the CH water that runs through it, less heat is lost and you gain more output  from your stove!

The water that runs through the stove is heated both by radiant heat and the flue gases. The flue gases are sucked downwards through the pipes via a ventilator.  In this instance the pipes act as a heat exchanger. To date DRU has equipped two models with this system, an inbuilt model and a freestanding model: the Agua B100 and the Agua F100 respectively.

The benefits in a nutshell:

  • Released heat is also used to additionally heat your CH.
  • An output of no less than 95%.
  • Larger stove in a small space an option by dividing heat across the space and the CH.
  • Low heat emission in the room enables you to heat for longer periods of time at full capacity which in turn creates higher flames.
