Why a wood-fired stove?

For the true enthusiast nothing compares to the crackling sound, smell and full fire that stoking with wood has to offer. Often with wood combustion we think of an open fire, like we remember from our childhood; a chimney, under that a hearth with a grate which the wood was placed on ... and stoke away!

However, there have been many innovations relating to wood combustion over the years too, that make stoking with wood more efficient, sustainable and environmentally-friendly. Before we go on, we will first clarify the difference between an open fire and a closed stove or heater.
